Revolver Condition

THE REVOLVER is a Colt Single Action Army, serial #26943, made in 1876. It shows lots of use and carry and period modifications.  Which are typical of a frontier used pistol. The barrel has been shortened to 4 7/8” and it shows traces (about 5%) of an old nickel finish. The remainder of the revolver shows a heavy dark patina. The grips are one piece horn.  In addition, a lanyard has been added at the bottom of the grip.

The mechanics are good with all 4 clicks. Also, the bore is remarkably very good with no pitting. It shows a strong one-line barrel address. Along with all matching serial numbers on the butt, trigger guard, frame, and barrel. Although, very light from use and wear. The grips are one-piece and fit well and are of the same period. They appear to be either sheep or steer horn – a great look. This is a fully functional old frontier, Colt SAA.

Rig Condition

THE RIG is a very cool old frontier outfit dating to the same era as the gun. It is profusely decorated with nickel plated brass spots showing wear to the nickel and some dark tarnish and verdigris to some of the spots. Both the belt and holster look to be hand made (bunkhouse made) from heavy harness leather. The belt is somewhat stiffer than the holster. The belt is 2 ½” wide x 36” long with a Mexican style double tongue and buckle chapes. The leather on both holster and belt is supple with no losses. A great frontier rig that has been there, and done that!
