1866 Yellow Boy Carbine
Made in 1869
Winchester 66′ SRC
An overall very good condition 1866 Yellow Boy carbine. It is an early 3rd Model, serial #24813, made in 1869.
It has been period converted to center fire. Other than the center fire conversion, it appears to be all original with the original cleaning rod in the stock.
Winchester Condition
The mechanics are good and the bore is very good – bright and shiny. The brass shows minor nicks and dings with a nice patina and the barrel and magazine a smooth mottled grey/blue, but no pitting. The barrel address is sharp and fully readable. The finger lever shows fine pin prick pitting and the case colors on the hammer have “silvered” out. The wood stocks are very good with normal dings and scratches with a light coating of varnish. The stocks fit perfectly, the butt stock is slightly under size from shrinkage or light sanding. The butt stock is numbered to the gun and so is the butt plate.
This is a nice clean, early 3rd Model SRC, in honest original condition. It was well cared for throughout its time of use.
