.38 W.C.F with a Shotgun Butt

This special order Winchester 1873 SRC, (Saddle Ring Carbine) is in excellent overall condition.

It is .38-40 caliber with a shotgun butt stock. All its features are confirmed by a factory letter – included. Although .38-40 caliber carbines are not rare, they are considered to be uncommon.

Winchester – Condition

The shotgun butt stock is a rare feature on a 73’ carbine. The serial number is 595238, shipped on July 8, 1905. The barrel and magazine retain nearly 98% of its original bright blue. The frame retains about 75% of the original bright blue, just showing thinning wear at the bottom front of the frame from hand carry.  Also, the wood is excellent, showing minor handling marks with a perfect wood-to-metal fit.

The smooth metal shotgun butt plate appears to be case hardened as is the hand lever and the hammer. The bore is very good and bright, showing no pitting. The markings are good, in all the correct locations.  With  “.38 Cal.” on the bottom of the lifter. The action works as it should. Being tight and smooth.
