Colt 1849 Model Revolver
Made in 1857
A beautiful Colt 1849 Pocket Model revolver in excellent overall condition.
This is an early model with the small trigger guard and 5 shot cylinder with a 6” barrel. Its serial #132393, made in 1857, with the New York barrel address. All the serial numbers match, in all the correct locations, including the wedge.
Revolver Condition
The barrel and cylinder show approximately 90% of its original thinning blue finish. Along with the backstrap and trigger guard showing approximately 35% of the original silver plate. The frame, rammer and hammer show a “silvering” of the original case colors. The rolled cylinder scene is fully visible and all the cylinder pins are perfectly intact. Although, there are a few tiny spots of very fine pin prick pitting here-and-there – nothing serious. The screw slots are all good and un-buggered.
The original walnut grips are excellent. They fit perfect, showing about 90% of the original varnish.
The mechanics are excellent and the bore shows little or no use – near perfect. All the edges are sharp, showing no wear.
These early, un-cased, 49’ Models are rarely found in this condition. A great addition to a collection of high condition Colts.
