Colt Frontier Six Shooter
MFG in 1894
A nice original Colt Frontier Six Shooter showing frontier use. A factory letter, included, confirms serial #156185, .44/40 caliber, 4 ¾” barrel, nickel finish, shipped to E. C. Meacham Arms Co., St Louis, Missouri, May 28, 1894.
St Louis was the “Gateway to the West” at this point in time and this Colt SAA looks to have made its way there.
Colt – Condition
The Colt Single Action revolver is in very good condition, showing all its original parts, including the screws. The bore is good, showing strong rifling with typical black powder erosion. The action is good and the cylinder locks up tight. The original, now dull, nickel finish is about 65% intact, thinning and flaking in areas to a gun metal grey.
All the markings are good, and correct, “Colt Frontier Six Shooter” rolled on the left side of the barrel. The front sight is its full height and all screw slots are good. The “eagle” grips show honest wear with one small chip at bottom right side.
This is a very good presentable frontier used Colt SAA in very good overall condition.
