Early Colt Conversion Rig

Circa 1870’s

A very nice early Colt conversion rig, for a Colt 1860 Army Conversion or Open Top revolver. It’s a California style slim jim holster, showing no makers marks.

Condition

It’s in very good condition with a period added leather concho. It shows an attractive wide border stamping with flowers on both the front and back sides. It’s a right hand cross-draw holster, the belt loop attached with period copper rivets. The stitching is solid and the leather supple, with no damage or losses, just showing some light age cracking on the outer surfaces.

The belt is a catalog belt with 34 cartridge loops for .44 caliber bullets. It is 2” wide x 42” long showing no maker markings or catalog numbers. The buckle retains about 85% of its original nickel plating and the leather belt and cartridge loops are still supple with no losses. The cotton stitching is very fragile with several loops showing re-sewing. 

This rig is in great condition considering its age.
