Colt SAA Checkered Grips

Clarks Antiques western memorabilia offers a variety of antique accouterments to add to your collection of holsters and belts and antique firearms. These Colt SAA Checkered Grips are no exception.

They are a rare one-piece, checkered walnut, single action grip. These are not the more common Fleur de Lys 2-piece grips, but the rare one-piece full checkered (and checkered on the bottom as well).

This style of checkered grips are shown in Keith Cochran’s “Colt Peacemaker Encyclopedia”, page 203, as well as Graham, Kopeck, and Moore’s “A Study of the Colt SAA Revolver”, page XV. This particular grip was said to have come off a Colt SAA Sheriffs Model, circa 1890.

Colt SAA Grips – Condition

The grip is in excellent condition, just showing one tiny chip on the inside, bottom front, of the left side. The grip shows no wear at all. There is no serial number on the inside of the grip and appears to have never been one there.

This style of grip was special ordered and will usually show up on the factory letter. They are very rare.
