Beaded Holster and Belt
for a Colt SAA 7-1/2″
A stunning Indian beaded holster and belt, circa 1900-1920, maybe earlier??? I am not much of an authority on Indian artifacts, but this rig really caught my eye.
Rig Condition
Both the holster and belt are fully beaded on the exposed side, in the same patterns. The condition is excellent, showing no damages or losses. The leather appears to be buckskin, sewn with sinew thread. The small beads are sewn on a separate piece of leather, then sewn to another (liner) piece on both the holster and belt.
The holster fits a Colt SAA with a 7 ½” barrel perfectly.
The belt is 2 ½” wide x 40” long with a tie-down thong on one end.
The rig shows little use, just some light age soiling. It appears to be a Plains Indian rig, but to what tribe I don’t know. All these Indian items are unique and I could not find anything similar in my reference texts.
